Krista Hilton IBCLC |
My interest in lactation began when I gave birth to my firstborn and experienced so many struggles to establish breastfeeding. I received help and support from public health nurses, an IBCLC, La Leche League, and friends and family. Knowing how valuable that support was, and having had the experience of breastfeeding my daughters, I became passionate about helping other parents to meet their own individual breastfeeding goals.
I became a peer counsellor (with the Guelph Community Health Centre) for breastfeeding parents in 2012 and an accredited La Leche League leader in 2015. I attended Mohawk College in 2014 and completed the Breastfeeding Program in 2016. I subsequently wrote the qualifying exam and successfully received the certification to practice as an IBCLC. |
